URSULA UNDRESS - STUDIO DIRECTOR/INSTRUCTOR
An Atlanta favorite, Ursula has performed locally with Syrens of the South, Blast Off! Burlesque, and Mon Cherie Presents, as well as opening for Unknown Hinson, and at DragonCon. Ursula has also graced the stages of The New Orleans Burlesque Festival, the Americana Burlesque & Sideshow Festival in Asheville, NC, The Texas Burlesque Festival, Alabama Burlesque Fest, and was a runner-up in 2010’s Viva Las Vegas 13 Burlesque Competition. She has been involved with the creation and organization of the annual Southern Fried Burlesque Festival here in Atlanta, and is the founder of the Atlanta Burlesque Alliance.
Ursula has a rich background in both musical and dramatic theatre, choreography, staging, and theatre production/direction that spans over 14 years. Her experience and work within both the theatre and burlesque help to make her a qualified teacher. She is a choreographer for both trained dancers and "non-dancers". She is a regular teacher for the Syrens of the South's ABCs & 123s foundation classes, at the Southern Fried Burlesque Festival, and has also taught Burlesque Fitness and Technique at Atlanta's Seminole Studio.
THE CHAMELEON QUEEN
Hailing from a background as multifaceted as her name, The Chameleon Queen spins it all together for performing and teaching. She has been in the books, behind the scenes, and on the boards for over 30 years. Eleven of those years have been devoted to her “wife,” Burlesque. She has taught workshops, hosted panels on the pin-up lifestyle and her 7 Virtues of Burlesque philosophy, toured the US and Canada, performed at DragonCon as a part of the burlesque shows and with The Last Dance, was Creative Loafing's People's Choice Best Burlesque Performer in '06, and the next year was chosen as an alternate for the Burlesque Hall of Fame's Best Debut category as the well-known fan dancer, Diamond Ice.
The Chameleon Queen is a co-founder and the Artistic & Collaborations Director of Musée du Coeur, an all vintage collaborative. Their debut gigs were at the High Museum of Art for the collector's fete and Valentine's Weekend Exhibition event to re-create the performances that originally inspired the works in Toulouse Lautrec & Friends exhibit. She has regularly worked in tandem with The Imperial Opa Circus, 7 Stages, and The Little 5 Points Rockstar Orchestra.
Her devotion to burlesque continues through her passionate pursuit of self-education and sharing the art she loves.
DEE DEE CHMIELEWSKI
Dee Dee has performed as a Dancer since the age of two and has had an immense amount of experience, including continuing her education with summer intensives, master classes, professional workshop performances, and private instruction. Some of her former instructors have been Linda Chase, Nancy Lane-Wright, Eric Hawkins, Twyla Tharp, Billy Seigenfield, Michael Moses of Hawkins Company, Floyd Flynn and Camille Brown of Graham Company, Andre Tyson and Mathew Rushing of Alvin Ailey, Sally Ann Swarm of CATS.
Her more recent performances and classes have been with the Trey McIntyre Project, Lauri Stallings, Bubba Carr, and The Imperial OPA Circus. She is currently an associate artist and performer with CorePerformance Company. She is also the go-to choreographer for Seven Stages, and the Little Five Points Rock Star Orchestra. She choreographs and perform with luminosity and LED productions for many corporate events. She also was recently featured an a Zac Brown music video, as well as a Lifetime TV reality show. She holds a BFA in dance from Valdosta State University from which she received a costuming scholarship. Don’t let all the dance performance experience sell her short, she also pulls double duty in costume design for all the companies listed above.
As a teacher, Fonda has taught both ballet and burlesque. She was owner and principal instructor of The Dance Academy for 12 years. She taught for three years at the prestigious Alabama School of Fine Arts, where she annually taught the audition classes for New York's esteemed American Ballet Theatre. Her burlesque classes have been taught at numerous Festivals throughout the USA. She has also been hired to teach privately for burlesque troupes.
As a performer she was a professional ballet dancer for over 25 years dancing in New York and all over the US. She is currently a solo burlesque performer residing in Atlanta and traveling all over to festivals around the world to perform. She performs the classical burlesque style and is dedicated to bringing the art of classical burlesque to the mainstream.
“The Girl Behind the Behind,” has been called a “top tassel-twirler” by Las Vegas City Life, “Lucille Ball in pasties" by Creative Loafing Atlanta and “The hardest working Burlesque Performer” by Pure Politics.com, she is an internationally acclaimed burlesque performer, producer and teacher as well as being a local Atlanta favorite. In 2008 Katherine launched the ABCs and 123s Burlesque Class Series which just celebrated it's 8th student showcase at the Syrens of the South 5thAnniversary show in August 2012. She has taught burlesque classes at festivals all over the country including Burlesque History, Business of Burlesque as well as many craft and movement classes.
Katherine Lashe is known for her ass-ets and has been wowing audiences with her alluring mix of 1950s pin-up and musical theater background, peppered with comedy and her punk-rock roots all around the Southeast as well as Boston, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Hollywood, New Orleans and across Texas, as a soloist and with her company, Syrens of the South Productions. She is also the creator of The Southern Fried Burlesque Fest which celebrates its third year in March 2013!
LOLA LE SOLEIL
Raised on The Muppet Show and Carol Burnett, with a fancy for little shiny bits, Lola LeSoleil's brand of burlesque is a blend of glamour and humor which has garnered awards for both costuming and performance.
Lola is a proud graduate of Syrens of the South's ABC's and 123's of Burlesque, and combined her tease training with a lifetime of dance, theater, and music to bring her art to life.
As an advocate of continued learning, she's been a student of such icons as Lottie the Body, Bambi Jones, Dirty Martini, Jean Idelle, as well as Atlanta's own Torchy Taboo.
Her appearances and performances include DragonCon, Syrens of the South, Salome Cabaret, Unknown Hinson, Rhinestone Gorilla Burlesque, and the Dresden Dolls. With a background in music production, Lola became a special topics teacher for Syrens of the South and the Southern Fried Burlesque Festival, focusing on music mixing for performers.
Rebecca has been a professional hoop dance performer and instructor since 2008. She has hooped for many different events and venues in many states all across the country.
HoopEssence is Rebecca’s company. HoopEssence was formed to help Rebecca take her hobby to the next level and make it a viable business that is a benefit to the customers who patronize it and to
the local community.
Sadie Hawkins is a burlesque aerialist and fire performer based in Atlanta, GA. With acts ranging from gogo dancing to performance art, even her aerial and fire performance is charged with a burlesque sensibility.
Sadie Hawkins began participating in Atlanta's burlesque scene in 2004, with Doll Squad. In 2006, Sadie co-founded Blast-Off Burlesque, best known for its quirky, performance art-style acts and named Best of Atlanta 2009-2012. She currently performs independently and with Hot Toddies Cabaret, working with the fire and cabaret group since 2009.
Once dubbed “The Sweetest ‘T’ in the South”, this gal really knows how to put on a show! She is the producer of “Talloolah Love Presents”: a series of burlesque shows including the recent AnachroCon shows: “The World's Fair Exposition” And "Burlesque at the end of the world". The "Rue Du Paradis" at Atlanta's High Museum of Art in 2011, and she is the producer of the 2012 and 2013 Dragon Con Burlesque show: "A Glamour Geek Review". She is The Matron of the Atlanta Burlesque and Cabaret Society, she is the founder of "The Texbook Tease". A traveling workshop that offers up her and other seasoned performer's "exper-tease" in the art of the peel. Finally, she is a contributing author along with Alan Moore, Margaret Killjoy, Sarah Hunter and Molly Crabapple in "The Steampunk's Guide to Sex", published in both English and Italian on Ebook November 2012 to be released in paperback soon!
